Upcoming Smartphones in 2023

All the new smartphones expected for 2023: from the new iPhone 15 to the Galaxy S23, Xiaomi 13, Galaxy A54, OnePlus 11 and many more.
What will the best smartphones of 2023 look like? This is the question that many enthusiasts ask themselves. Surely Apple, Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola, Oppo, Honor and many others will announce the new models of the most famous series, but there could also be some surprises that nobody expects yet.
2022 has been a year of transition, during which we have seen improvements in the design and some technologies of the devices. 2023 should instead be a more important year for new smartphones, with ever more powerful devices. The trends speak of a greater presence of screens with QHD + resolution, therefore even more defined screens, and rapid recharges that could even reach 150 W. In short, some 2023 smartphones could even recharge in a few minutes.
Most of the top-of-the-range Android smartphones of 2023 are expected to receive the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, while as always the iPhone 15 will have Apple's new proprietary processor. For all those who are therefore wondering which smartphone to buy in 2023, here is a rundown of the devices that will surely come out during the year, together with the first rumors about the release, data sheet and features.

Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus And S23 Ultra

The new top-of-the-range smartphones from Samsung will usher in 2023 and, as always, are eagerly awaited by enthusiasts. Here are all the leaks available so far:
Models: as always there will be three, therefore Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy S23 release and price: The new models should arrive on the market during the month of February 2023. The price could be very close to that of the Galaxy S22 launch, with the base model of Galaxy S23 starting at 350,000 LKR, Galaxy S23 Ultra starting at 660,000 LKR. Obviously the prices are not absolutely definitive and could change according to the variants and internal memory cuts.
Display and design: new unofficial renderings have revealed how the new models could be aesthetically. The design is quite similar to what was seen on the Galaxy S22 Plus, albeit more minimal, therefore with a flat screen and thin frames, as well as the now classic hole on the display for the front camera. The Galaxy S23 could therefore have a 6.1-inch screen, which rises to 6.6 inches for the S23 Plus version. The S23 Ultra's screen, on the other hand, will be 6.8 inches large, probably curved on all sides.
Cameras: the big news could be exclusive to the S23 Ultra, that is, a new 200 megapixel camera. Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus could instead have a 12 megapixel selfie camera, more performing than the 10 megapixel one of the previous generation.
Processor: all the latest rumors (including a tweet from the leaker Ice universe) point to the fact that the new Galaxy S23 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor . They could therefore have a peak frequency of 3.36 GHz, resulting in more performance than the same processors mounted on other Android smartphones.

Samsung A14, A34 and A54

Not only top-of-the-range Samsung smartphones: many enthusiasts are also waiting for the mid-range ones. Samsung has focused a lot on this segment in recent years and will continue to do so with the new models of the Galaxy A series. Currently there is information on these models:
Galaxy A14, known by the serial number SM-A146B, will have 5G connectivity, probably a 6.8-inch Full HD + screen and triple rear cameras. It will be released in early 2023.
Galaxy A34 is under development and known as SM-A346B. It should have a triple camera with a 48-megapixel main sensor and Exynos 1380 processor. It could come out during the first months of 2023. Furthermore, the first renderings of the device have also been published by OnLeaks. The phone could have a 6.5-inch screen, teardrop notch, triple camera and should keep the 3.5mm audio jack hole.
Galaxy A54 is certainly the most awaited. Currently known as the SM-A546B, it could introduce a more powerful 50-megapixel main sensor on the back. The first renders of this highly anticipated device have also been released, shared by OnLeaks, a source that is usually not wrong. From the images we see a Galaxy A54 with thinner front edges, a central hole that houses the front camera and a triple rear camera. Apparently the depth sensor is missing. In addition to this, the device has appeared on the Geekbench tables, useful for understanding the power of smartphones and from which some specifications also emerge. From here it can be seen that the A54 processor is identified with the name Exynos 1380, that is the successor of the current Exyson 1280 and better from a performance point of view. The RAM is expected to be 6GB, 5,100mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 5G connectivity. A much more balanced device than the Galaxy A53 5G, but obviously we have to wait for the confirmation of these features with an official announcement.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro

Immediately after the iPhone 14 family was put on the market, rumors arrived about the new models that will arrive in 2023, i.e. iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and a probable iPhone 15 Ultra. Here are the key innovations of the new Apple smartphones that millions of enthusiasts around the world are anxiously awaiting:
Models: The 2023 iPhone 15s will likely be four with 6.1-inch or 6.7-inch screens. On the one hand the less expensive iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus (or Max), on the other the iPhone 15 Pro and probably the iPhone 15 Ultra with a higher price and features. The design of the new iPhones should not change compared to the iPhone 14 family. All iPhone 15 models could have the Dynamic Island.
iPhone 15 release and price: the new models will in all probability be available during autumn 2023, as per tradition, at an even higher price than the current generation of iPhones. In particular, Forbes has reported an indiscretion on the possible price of the iPhone 15 Ultra, which apparently will be the most expensive Apple smartphone ever. It would start in the United States from a price of 1,299 dollars, 200 dollars more than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This means that in Sri Lanka we could see an even more significant increase in the price.
iPhone 15 Ultra would therefore replace a possible iPhone 15 Pro Max, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. There is talk of an even more resistant iPhone with a titanium body, a very light material. It will be a "super top of the range", also in terms of price.
All new iPhone 15s will have the USB-C port for charging and ditch the Lightning connector. Apple will therefore obey the European directives, equipping the new iPhones with this universal connector, to the delight of many enthusiasts who will be able to use power supplies and accessories already in their possession. In a tweet by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is hypothesized that only the iPhone 15 Pro and higher will offer USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 connections, therefore faster for transferring large video files or ProRAW photos. iPhone 15 instead should have a USB-C port with speeds compliant with USB 2.0, just like the Lightning port.
Cameras: from a photographic point of view, iPhone 15 Ultra could be the only model to mount a periscopic lens, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It is a technology that offers optical zoom capabilities that exceed those possible with a standard telephoto lens, allowing for 5x or even 10x zoom.
Processors: the iPhone 15 and iPhone Plus models will most likely use the A16 Bionic processor also seen on the iPhone 14. The novelty will be all within the Pro and Ultra models, which will almost certainly mount the Apple A17 Bionic, built for the first time with a 3nm process from TSMC.

Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro

The prolific Chinese manufacturer after many rumors unveiled its new top-of-the-range smartphones in December 2022, which are initially only available in China.
Xiaomi 13 Xiaomi 13 is the standard model, equipped with a 6.36-inch screen with Full HD + resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It is a very bright display, capable of reaching a peak of 1900 nits. The photographic system has been renewed, starting with the 32 megapixel front camera. On the back is a triple Leica sensor, the main one being 50 megapixels, flanked by a 12 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens with 3.2x optical zoom. There are two versions of this smartphone: one with a glass back and another with a shell covered in nano-leather, a dirt-repellent material. The impressive technical data sheet concludes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 4,500 mAh battery and 67 W fast charging.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Xiaomi 13 Pro is the most advanced and expensive version of Xiaomi's top-of-the-range smartphone. The screen in this case rises to 6.73 inches but of the LTPO AMOLED type, therefore with a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. In this way, the displayed contents will always be very fluid, but there will be considerable battery savings. The triple rear camera has all sensors with a resolution of 50 megapixels. The processor is always the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the battery rises to 4,820 mAh and above all the fast charging is 120 W. It means that it takes only 19 minutes to be able to recharge the battery from 0 to 100%.
The two smartphones arrive with the Android 13 operating system installed, enriched with the proprietary MIUI 14 interface. They are already available in China at prices which, at the exchange rate, start at 212,366 LKR and reach almost 351,341 LKR for the Pro model.

Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro

Even if Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have been available on the market for a short time, there is already talk of the successors Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The insider Roland Quandt on WinFuture says in fact that he has come into possession of information regarding these new Google smartphones which will be released in 2023.
Currently the two phones are known by the codenames of Husky and Shiba and apparently they will be classic smartphones, so it is not yet the time for flexible Pixels. They will most likely have Android 14 as their operating system and new generation proprietary processor. Both smartphones are expected to have 12GB of RAM. Other than this there is no other information, so we will have to wait.

Motorola Edge 40, Edge 40 Pro and RAZR 2023

The 2022 Edge 30, Edge 30 Pro and Edge 30 Ultra models have been very successful. Motorola wants to replicate its lucky period with its new flagships of 2023, namely Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro (announced in China as Motorola Moto X40), but there will also be room for two new leaflets, the RAZR 2023 and another mysterious device. The existence of the development of these devices has been leaked through the well-known leaker Evan Blass, who has unveiled a real roadmap of future Motorola smartphones.
Behind the code name "Bronco" the Motorola Edge 40 would be hiding inside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and a triple camera with a main sensor of 50 megapixels.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is identified with the code name "Canyon", which will certainly have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, an improved triple camera and up to 12 GB of RAM. Known in China as the Moto X40, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro has emerged in some photo renders as always by OneLeaks. Below you can see the square-shaped rear camera module with a 50 + 50 + 12 megapixel triple camera and a 6.67-inch display.
Not only that: there are also rumors about next year's new leaflets. Always Evan Blass reported that in 2023 we will see not one, but even two flexible smartphones, successors of the already excellent RAZR 2022. They are currently known by the code name of "Juno" and "Venus". The first will be RAZR 2023, while there is no information on the second yet.
